Purity Ring – ‘Shrines’ full album stream

Purity Ring has been teasing our electro/pop senses since early 2011 when they dropped their first 7″ Ungirthed on Transparent Recordslink to that post here. They have since signed to 4AD and have been steadily approaching a full length debut slated for a july 24th release. If you’re tired as I am of hearing no more than a sequence of 2 coherent Purity Ring songs without stringing together a series of singles the wait is only as long as it takes for you to follow the link at the bottom of the page and stream Shrines in its entirety via NPR’s First Listen.

Here’s the beautiful new video for the lead single Fineshrine directed by Young Replicant.

DecibelCast Vol. 5 “May i Mixtape”

It’s mid May and whether your geographical situation has you dreading the ensuing summer heat or has you anxiously awaiting the long, sun filled days and all that may be attached to that time of year, no doubt, it’s just around the corner. Some of you are already sweating and others can’t wait to be drenched. This mix will hopefully assist you in simply sitting back and enjoying the remainder of the least oppressive season of the year, spring.

Purity Ring – “Shrines”

In just three short months the Montreal/Halifax based synth/pop duo Purity Ring will unveil their debut LP Shrines via 4AD. We’ve had our eye on them since their 7″ Ungirthed exploded into the blogosphere last year. Grab the first single Obedear below and check our previous posts for more depth.

Purity Ring Split 7″ w/ BRAIDS

Purity Ring and BRAIDS have announced a split 7″ to be released October 10th via Fat Possum. We’ve mentioned Purity Ring a couple times now and they continue to be a favorite. You can check out the previous post and grab their last 7″ if you missed it the first time around here.

BRAIDS are a Montreal based four piece who released their debut LP, Native Speaker, January 18th via Flemish Eye Records. Raphaelle Standell-Preston’s voice carries the band through it’s textured, electronic wanderings with effortless abandon.

On the A side is Purity Ring’s beat heavy, electro/pop track, Belispeak. On the flip is BRAIDS’ electro/layered noise sketch of beautiful madness, Peach Wedding.

Purity Ring – Ungirthed 7″

Purity Ring is the newest project from New York based Cordin Roddick and Megan James of the crazed electro outfit Gobble Gobble. Their first 7″ Ungirthed dropped April 12th on Transparent Records. We mentioned it when it came out in the Fresh New Tracks post and has been on steady rotation since. On the A side is Ungirthed and on the flip is Lofticries. These songs are synth heavy, hip-hop infected jams that mutate into jagged dance beats accompanied by Megan’s gorgeous vocals soaked in reverb. It’s some kind of experimental electronic music that solidifies into dance/pop gems. The vinyl for the 7″ is limited to 300 copies so wake up on this one and check back for news on the full length.

Fresh New Tracks

fresh bear tracks after winter hibernation

So there are a bunch of really good tracks I have stumbled across recently coming out of hibernation and so I’m just putting them all into one post for y’all right here.

First is a new Beastie Boys track!!! It’s called “Make Some Noise” and the full video is below. It is taken from the long version of the video called “Fight For Your Right (Revisited)” which will be released along with the full album on May 3rd. The new album is called “Hot Sauce Committee Part 2” and is streaming at the Beasties site here

The only place I could find this track and the Passion Pit remix of it for free is ironically at a site called fresh new tracks. So go there and get both of those and whatever else your heart desires.

Although not as big as a new Beastie Boys album, a new My Morning Jacket album is dropping May 31st and you can get the title track from the album “Circuital” at their website (click above link).

Next TV Girl has a free EP you can get here. Along with a 7″ they released with Dirty Gold.

New Villager has a track I cant get out of my head called “Rich Doors” that I found for free at RCRD LBL here. And if you don’t know about RCRD LBL it is one of the best sources for new free music on the interwebs fo sho.

Purity Ring came out with a new 7″ today I think with “Ungirthed” on one side and “Lofticries” on the B side which you can get for free here.

Unknown Mortal Orchestra is a band that I think will explode in your face soon even though they are unknown and I really know nothing about them but the song “How can u luv me” which you can get here. They just signed to fat possum and are on tour so check em out if you want to but I dont really care geez.

And finally I’m gonna end with a hard azz hip hop track so you don’t question my street cred. Its produced by Afrojack and blackberry commercial star Diplo and I know its by Chris Brown but for some reason he is having a resurgence which no one can explain… Anyway the track is called “Look at Me Now” its hot and it features Wheezy and Busta Bust and you can get it for free from Mad Decent here. Below is the video so you can see crazy Chris Brown dancing…Enjoy!

Anyways there you have it… Have fun finding and listening.
