The L.A. based grunge rock quintet, Jesus Sons, released their s/t debut via Mock Records Jan. 28th. Pulling sounds from ’60s/late ’50s rockers their style of straight forward rock and roll could easily be found in a used record bin among the greats.

Black Moth Super Rainbow mastermind, Tobacco (Thomas Fec), and Zackery Force Funk bring forth Demon Queen stollen out of some twisted dimension. Their debut, Exorcise Tape, dropped last month via Rad Cult.
Tobacco conjures his gnarled synth heavy beats as Zackary Force Funk, of the hip-hop collective Machina Muerte, interjects his smooth falsetto. The record twists and bubbles to life and guides you through some inter-dimensional journey searching for all that’s unholy.

Ty Segall has just released a new video for the the lead single, Thank God For Sinners off last years Twins. Groping hands on torsos lead to a gruesome ending. Watch the video and check his updated tour schedule with Ex-Cult below. He’s bringing along a handfull of great artists including one of my current favorites, Mac Demarco.

Quilt is a little three piece whose psychedelic sound is as if someone took a strong hallucinogen in the late ’60s and they were recently reincarnated to make some of the most wonderful psych folk/rock I’ve heard in a long time. Even though they reign from the cold, northern lands of Boston they could just as easily be from the warm streets of San Francisco in the middle of a peace and love filled summer. Complete with light airy harmonies and vocals, spacey guitar rifts, extended trance inducing jams and trippy far east influence this music could definitely entertain a semi stoned crowd from the hippy heyday but could also open up the mind of about anyone today.
They signed to Mexican Summer to release the self-titled debut album in November after releasing their first EP on their own bandcamp page. Its easy when listening to either release to want to just lay on the carpet, turn on the lava lamp and just trip out and stare at the ceiling with your friends. And that’s what I like about them, because there aren’t many bands out there that can pull off this type of nostalgic trip without sounding like they are trying too hard. Check out the new video for Young Gold and some live basement videos and downloads below to see if you want to have an enjoyable acid flashback for a change.

So… Yes its been awhile since I’ve posted and I’m truly sorry for those loyal fans of the blog who are deeply missing me and my random assortment of shit I throw up here, I’ve moved and had to resettle in a new area which is always difficult over the holidays so thanks for understanding. This band is one of my favorites of 2011 as you can see on our favorites list we posted on new years eve if you somehow happened to miss it. But stay tuned as there will be lots more new stuff to come from DECIBELity soon.
